Day 9 of 12 Reasons to Rejoice: Advent Devotions
What happens when the teacher steps out of the classroom for a moment?
I vividly remember from my elementary school days one boy who yelled, “Party!” every time the teacher left us alone, and of course, chaos ensued. No one’s watching, so why not have a little fun, right?
Hi, I’m Lauren Thell, author of Christian YA fiction and blogger for teens who are ready to exceed the world’s expectations.
A child of discernment, however, is leery of joining in the mayhem because he has the foresight to know what everyone else is ignorant of: The teacher will return any minute.
That means the mayhem will end, order will be restored, and learning can continue.
It’s the devilish child who should fear the teacher’s return.
“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”
Revelation 22:12
Jesus has warned us over and over that he will be coming back, and he sent the Holy Spirit into his people so that they may be discerning and watchful. For those of us with the Spirit, we have nothing to fear. In fact, that day will be a day of dancing and rejoicing because the mayhem will end and order will be restored—for all of eternity!
Do not fear. Jesus will return and take you into his heavenly home forever. Rejoice!
