Find the evidence in this collection of Bible verses for when you feel worthless. Write them down, set them on your nightstand, tape them to your mirror, stamp them in your brain. And pull them out when you need them most.
It’s time to learn the truth about value. Your value.

Isaiah 43:1-2: You are God’s own.
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you… When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned…”
God doesn’t own you in the way that one might own a set of dinner plates. Dinner plates will be left behind when the house burns down.
No, you are more precious than that—so precious he never lets you out of his sight. Read How to Really, Truly Know God Loves You.
Joshua 1:5: You are never alone.
“No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Did you catch the key word here?
Never. God will never leave you nor forsake you. Not for one second will he turn his head and look away. Even the most vigilant human parent must take her eyes off her child once in a while.
But God does not. For more, see Why You Can Trust God Instead of Freaking Out.
Luke 12:7: God knows you better than you know yourself.
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Think of the people who know you best. Probably your mother or father, maybe a sister, brother, best friend or significant other. Only those who love you know you best.
God knows more about you than anyone else, including you. You are so valuable to him, he even keeps track of your hairs! Only someone who really loves you would take the time to do that.
Jeremiah 17:7: God wants to bless you.
“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”
Lacking self-confidence? You don’t need it! God wants good things for you. Put your confidence in him and see how he blesses you.
Ephesians 2:10: God took great care in creating you.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…
The word “handiwork” implies something made by hand. You weren’t pumped out on an assembly line with a thousand others like a batch of calculators, all made the same. He designed you to be exclusive in your traits. Your skin, your eyes, your build, your personality, your talents, your tastes…
No one takes his time in making something unique if he doesn’t care about it. Most artists feel a fondness for their creations.
God is the ultimate artist.

Song of Songs 4:7: You are capable of receiving deep human love.
You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
This is the odd verse in the list because it isn’t God speaking to you, or man speaking about God. This is a man speaking to a woman.
So why am I including it? Because I get the feeling that many young ladies feel they are not worthy of a good man’s love so they give themselves away to the first boy who shows interest in their body, often to their detriment. (See my last post, Dear Young Woman.)
My friend, this should not be. God created love and you are capable of receiving deep human love. Hold out for the one who will pledge himself to you for life.

Ephesians 2:4-5: You have been made alive through Christ.
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions.
You don’t have to earn a thing from God. Nothing. He saved you even when you didn’t deserve it and gave you life when death was your destiny.
If that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.

Jeremiah 1:5: You are exclusive.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart…”
Again, God knows you better than you know yourself, which is all the more special when you realize that you are unique from everyone else.
Take these verses, write them down, set them on your nightstand or tape them to your mirror, engrave them in your brain. And reach for them when you feel worthless. Because the word “worthless” when applied to humans is a lie.

Beautiful! It always amazes me how God even knows the number of hairs on our head…How loved we are by Him.
??♥️✝️
I agree. What an amazing thought, to be loved so completely and unconditionally by our God. It is almost unbelievable… almost. ?
